2020 isn’t slowing down!

Of course, with only two months left of the year, things are only picking up speed. To think that this year might calm down as we turn the corner to 2021 is almost laughable at this point.

I don’t know about you all, but last week was a little bit… uh… tense? And with the holidays coming up, there are no signs of the tension slowing down. It’s almost like they do that on purpose? They just HAD to make the election RIGHT before family holidays like Thanksgiving. For all of you that are not looking forward to the political debates bound to happen around the dinner table, my heart goes out to you.

But, this past election holds a lot more weight than just uncomfortable conversations with relatives. A lot of people are looking to the new POTUS to see how Coronavirus will be addressed in 2021. So many of us event professionals are waiting to see what the state of events will look like in America under this new administration.

But, it’s going to take a lot more than a new president to get things back on track. There seems to be this weird false hope that when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, the world will suddenly go back to normal. I even have to fight the urge to cling on to that hope sometimes. Of course, I want our world to heal, but it’s not going to happen overnight.

But, I do feel excited when I look forward to what’s coming up in 2021. I’m excited that we have a female vice president because it feels like we are one step closer to achieving gender equality. I’m excited to continue learning more about how events will evolve in the next 12 months and all the new things we get to experiment with. And I’m excited to grow more individually because if there is one thing that 2020 has shown me, it’s that out of chaos comes opportunity.

It’s the final sprint, people. We’ve got two more months to kick ass, take names, and plan events. I’m invigorated for this last final push, and I hope you are too!

And now, The Weekly Soundcheck!
